How Much Does Travel in Syria Cost?
Syria is one of the cheapest destinations — everyday food, transport and markets are very affordable. Where you spend more, where you save, and how to pay.

Good news: Syria is one of the cheapest destinations compared with most of the region and the world. Everyday costs — food, transport, markets — are far lower than other places. A few details help you plan.
Where you save
- Local and street food is cheap — foul and hummus breakfasts, shawarma, grilled chicken, sweets.
- Markets — spices, nuts, sweets and souvenirs at reasonable prices, especially in the Damascus and Aleppo souks.
- Sites — most archaeological sites have modest entry fees.
Where you spend more
- Tourist-oriented restaurants cost a bit more than local spots — normal anywhere.
- Hotels — options are still limited as travel returns, and availability varies by city and season. Book ahead, especially in the summer coastal season.
Getting around — you control the budget
Our prices are published and fixed before you book, including driver and fuel:
- A Damascus airport transfer at a fixed price.
- A car with driver by the hour or day.
- A private trip priced by destination.
Paying
It's a cash economy — bring enough cash and exchange as you go; card machines are still rare. See also Is Syria safe for tourists?
